Our stories

We have lots of positive ROCSOLID stories to tell. There's a young woman, a former care-leaver, who now has a baby and a partner and who is planning to go to university, there's another young woman who now works in a local social services department and then there's Anth and Debbie...

Anth

Anth, a single dad, came to a Hope House flat with his 15-month-old son who was subject to an interim care order.

We worked with the local authority, supporting and teaching Anth how to look after his son. Budgeting, cooking and childcare were part of his keyworker plan.

“The staff really gave me confidence – my stay at Hope House was brilliant,” he said.

Anth now has a residence order and lives with his son, with our ongoing support, in a ROCSOLID satellite house. He continues to be part of Young Hopefuls.

Debbie

Debbie had been sleeping rough, sofa-surfing at friends’ flats and staying at bed and breakfast places in not very good parts of town.

She’s a very vulnerable 17-year-old but now has a place she calls home. “My social worker told me about ROCSOLID and it’s the best place I’ve ever been in.  The staff help you loads ... it’s like a family.

“I talk a lot of things over with my key worker and I get help with my shopping and budgeting. I’m also back at college now.”

The staff provided a service and level of support over and above what was expected.

Good staff support and they’re always accessible to young people and professionals.

The service is over and above what I’ve come across with other supported accommodation providers.
